Hi folks
Here are the first 10 minutes of a fun little “walking tour” through a VR gallery, which begins talking about the first NFTs, the very first of which was created by Kevin McCoy. Hit play to see “Quantum,” and come right back.
Kevin and Jennifer McCoy are launching a follow-up to Quantum, nearly 9 years later, called Land Sea and Sky, and it’s launching in a vastly changed blockchain landscape.. pun intended ;) You can listen to the Twitter space announcement here.
Why is this significant? Because the McCoys (along with Rhea Myers) basically invented the mechanisms for a digital art marketplace on the blockchain. Yes, there were even earlier efforts made before blockchain which we can talk about later. But these two were making NFTs before Crypto Kitties and Punks were ever conceived.
I’m looking forward to either collecting for myself or helping a client collect work from the McCoys on April 7th.
Curation Recommendations for the Week
As always, there’s more great art available than what can be collected. But think about how you want to build your collection. Let me know if you want help developing your curation thesis. Here are a few quick recommendations!
