A future fantasy:
Imagine if, in the future, all-natural humans were practicing artists. What would that be like? There will be a lot to overcome to achieve this. As a species, we’ll have to take on our lack of self-confidence. A daily creative practice can help. But let’s just say we got there. Everyone is making art every day.
Do we humans want this? Would there be an art market? What purpose would art serve?
Just take it back to self-confidence. What would the world be like if everyone was self-confident? Everyone feels empowered. You are ok with that- right? Or does that challenge your confidence?
Beeple is the most well-known artist who creates artwork every day. Let me know who your favorite artist is that is producing artwork daily.
FYI, my name did make it onto a Times Square billboard during NFT.NYC this week, and Beeple showed up as a nude cowgirl. As an artist, Beeple is far from religious or spiritual.
Insights
Who are the most successful NFT artists? If you searched for it, every article will be more than a year old. Ahhh success is so 2021. What’s happening with the market today?
Well, if you are collecting artwork, now is an amazing time to find affordable artwork. Currency prices for Tezos and Ethereum are low. The number of devoted NFT collectors remains low. And artists keep creating more work. With all the inventory available, the world is your oyster.
If you haven’t started collecting artwork, consider experimenting! For example, you could explore collections on “Artw_rld” by well-known artists like Kevin and Jennifer McCoy, and Jill Magid. These are museum-worthy artworks that you can have in your personal collection.
This week's InboxNFT recommendations
This week we are recommending artwork from artist ChainLeft.
Chainleft is an anonymous data scientist, artist, solidity developer, and NFT historian. Pronouns…, probably a ‘he’ since their wife recently had a child and they use a bearded man for a profile picture. Please excuse any mistaken assumptions.
Chainleft advocates for early NFTs that run on the Namecoin blockchain. He creates on-chain artwork, removing any risk of losing any digital assets. And like the early artworks on Namecoin, Chainlefts projects are experimental.
Art Ponzi, by Chainleft
This project experiments with how artists reward their collectors.
Perhaps inspired by XCOPY, Chainlefts aesthetic connects to Glitch art and PFP meme culture, but his technical mastery and vision are not obvious at first. Each project comes with collectible documentation. Chainlefts diligent blog posts include fascinating details on the story, the concept, the technical, and other thoughts about each of his projects.
Chainleft describes how Art Ponzi works as follows:
As I’ve written about before, PFP NFTs sell more because it takes little work for the collector. Finding valuable 1/1’s takes extra work. But finding an interesting artist who continues to airdrop artwork is wonderful.
Follow Chainleft on Twitter to stay up to speed with an upcoming launch this month tentatively called Chaos Roads. Based on Chainlefts tweets, the work will explore on-chain dynamism and the potential use cases for the future of NFTs.
